An all-women culinary team led by Chef Anani will stage a preparatory dry run this week ahead of a bid to set a new Guinness World Records mark for the longest barbecue marathon by a team, organisers said in a statement dated Feb. 16.
The dry run is scheduled to begin on Feb. 18 as the group prepares for the main record attempt from March 5 to March 8, which organisers said is timed to conclude on International Women’s Day. The team said ending the marathon on the global observance would underscore themes of empowerment and resilience.
Organisers described the rehearsal as a critical phase to test the team’s endurance, coordination and readiness for the multi-day event. The Grill-A-Thon is intended not only as a record bid but also as a platform to encourage women to pursue ambitious goals regardless of their background.

“This is about more than endurance,” Chef Anani said in the statement. “It is about showing women that they are capable, powerful, and worthy of making history.”
Chef Anani said the initiative aims to inspire women and communities to believe in their potential and push beyond perceived limits through discipline and collective effort.
