A philanthropist in Nigeria’s northeastern Taraba state has urged wealthy Muslims to show kindness and generosity to the less privileged, stressing that acts of charity bring spiritual rewards.

Garba G. Alasure, a philanthropist and chairman of the Government Continuity for Good Governance, made the appeal in an interview with journalists in Jalingo.

Alasure said the period was a time for Muslims to demonstrate compassion and support those in need, noting that acts of generosity were believed to attract blessings from Allah.

“Let us strive to make a difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters who are struggling,” he said.

He also advised young people to avoid social vices and focus on diligence and personal development.

“Our young people are the future leaders of our society, and they must stay on the right path. Anybody you see relaxing under the tent at old age definitely struggled under the sun when he was young,” he said.

Alasure added that he plans to undertake projects that would benefit the community in the future, including building a hospital, a hotel and a school.

He also called for peaceful coexistence in Taraba state and across Nigeria, urging citizens to live in harmony with one another.
