UNIMED, AAUA, OAUSTECH to get needed attention- Governor Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reiterated his commitment towards providing full assistance to all the government-owned tertiary institutions across the State.

The Governor gave the assurance during a meeting with members of the Governing Councils of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED), Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OAUSTECH), and Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), held in his office on Tuesday.

Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the invaluable contributions of these institutions to society, particularly in terms of human capital development.

The Governor promised to look into the various challenges facing the institutions with a view to addressing them as soon as possible.

He also called for the continued support and collaboration of the institutions with his administration to promote excellence in education in the State.

Earlier, Prof. Ayodele Arowojolu, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of UNIMED, expressed condolences to Governor Aiyedatiwa over the passing of late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, lauding his leadership.

Prof. Arowojolu thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for releasing funds for the Faculty of Pharmacy of UNIMED and appealed for further support for ongoing projects.

Prof. Adesegun Fatusin, the Vice Chancellor of UNIMED, commended the Governor’s dedication to the institution and urged him to address critical issues.

He announced that the institution is set to produce its first batch of doctors in Nigeria at an upcoming convocation ceremony.

Similarly, Prof. Akinbo Adesomoju, Chairman of the Governing Council of OAUSTECH, urged the Governor to continue late Akeredolu’s legacy in developing the institution, citing neglected structures and the need for modern facilities.

Prof. Olugbenga Ige, Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, expressed solidarity with Governor Aiyedatiwa, praising the Governor’s swift efforts in enhancing the educational landscape of the State since assuming office.
