Two first class traditional rulers in Adamawa state, HRH Kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda 11, Kwandi Nunguraya and HRM Biyapo Bwaltam Bently Mboiman 11, Murum Mbula, have commended the activities of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA aimed at curbing the menace of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the country even as they called for enhanced partnership between the traditional institution and the Agency.

The monarchs spoke when they paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) at the its national headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday 5th March 2024.

They said traditional institution as a respected system in the society must play active and important role in the agency’s fight against the drug scourge especially at the grassroots level where they play influential roles in communities under their control. They commended the drug supply and drug demand reduction efforts of the agency especially the NDLEA Command in Adamawa state, which they support in various ways.

In his response, Marwa expressed appreciation to the royal fathers for their visit to support the work of the agency and seek further collaboration. “As respected traditional rulers in your domains, we encourage you to continue to partner with our Commands around you to engage in advocacy and sensitization of your subjects on the dangers of abusing and dealing in illicit substances. We have to work together as a collective to take this message to the communities and every nook and cranny of Nigeria”, Marwa stated.
He commended them for taking the bold step to identify with and support the work of the agency.
