A fire outbreak has been reported at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in the Lekki Free Zone, Lagos, on Wednesday, prompting widespread concern among Nigerians. The blaze, which filled the sky with dark smoke, has led to ongoing suspicions and questions from the public.

Anthony Chiejina, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of Dangote Group, responded to the incident with a statement on Wednesday, stating that the fire had been successfully contained.

“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP) today, Wednesday, 26th of June,” Chiejina’s statement read.

He further assured, “There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating normally, and there are no recorded injuries or bodily harm to any of our staff on duty.”

Despite these reassurances, the Nigerian public remains eager for more details regarding the incident.
