Site Workers Trapped in Building Collapse: LASEMA Leads Urgent Rescue Operation

The Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) has responded to a building collapse at 13 Wilson Mba Street, Arowojobe Estate, Maryland.

The building, consisting of three terraces, was under construction when it collapsed.

In a report released to HeapNews, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, revealed that during the search and rescue operations, three adult males were found dead, two adult males were rescued alive, and one adult male trapped under the rubble was rescued alive by LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire Service.

“All six men were site workers. They are receiving pre-hospital care on location while SEHMU has been contacted for the remains of the three fatalities,” Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu noted.

A combined team of agency personnel, the Fire Service, and the Nigeria Police are working at the scene, and LASEMA’s excavator has been deployed to expedite the search and rescue operations.
