The Lagos State Government has expressed gratitude to the protesters in Lagos for their peaceful conduct and their decision to end their action following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broadcast on Sunday.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised the protest leaders, stating, “Your stoppage of the protest today is a crystal clear affirmation of the fact that you know the government has heard your collective voice. What you have done is not only noble but the civilized thing to do.”
In a demonstration of the government’s commitment to ongoing engagement with the youth, Governor Sanwo-Olu has directed that the dialogue and engagements initiated prior to the protest must continue. The Ministries of Youth and Social Development, Information and Strategy, and the Office of Civic Engagement have been instructed to open wider channels of engagement with various stakeholders, including the protest leaders.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also urged citizens to remain vigilant against attempts to divide the community through fake news and scaremongering. “Lagosians must never give room to warmongering, scaremongering and rumour mongering. That is not our way; that is not who we are. That is not our style,” he stated.
The Governor commended Lagosians for rejecting anarchy and embracing peace, and he praised the professional conduct of all security agencies, including the Police Command, the Department of State Services, the Military, Civil Defence, and Neighbourhood Watch. He also acknowledged the contributions of traditional rulers, civil society organizations, community leaders, religious leaders, student leaders, and others in maintaining peace in Lagos.
Governor Sanwo-Olu encouraged all Lagosians to continue their businesses without any fear.
