The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) responded swiftly to a fire outbreak at the LG Office warehouse in Abule Osun, Trade Fair, in the early hours of Sunday. According to LASEMA, distress calls were received at 12:15 a.m. through the 767/112 Toll-Free Emergency lines, prompting the activation of the Lagos State Emergency Response Plans.

Upon the arrival of emergency responders at 12:40 a.m., a “raging fire” was discovered consuming the warehouse, which stored various equipment, including small forklifts, household gadgets, televisions, refrigerators, and air conditioners.

Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, stated, “LASEMA is coordinating the joint response effort with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and our Agency’s Fire Unit to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further.”

An update provided by Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed that the fire had severely damaged the entire main warehouse. However, due to the collaborative efforts of multiple fire and emergency services, the blaze was successfully contained, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures, including other warehouses, gas stations, diesel tankers, expatriate quarters, and other adjoining buildings.

“The joint response team is still actively engaged in combating the fire,” Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu added, noting that operations are ongoing. No casualties have been reported so far, and further updates will follow as efforts continue to bring the fire under complete control.
