“Tanker Accident in Lagos Contained, No Casualties”- LASEMA Boss

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said it swiftly responded to a distress call today after a tanker carrying 45,000 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) lost balance and spilled its contents on the road. The accident, caused by a sudden mechanical fault, led to a potentially hazardous situation.

In a Preliminary Report made available to HeapNews, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA said there were no injuries or fatalities. “The fallen tanker was recovered off the road with the Agency’s Crane/Charlie, the spilled PMS was successfully blanketed to prevent any fire outbreak or explosion”.

Officials from LASEMA, LASTMA, Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Fire Service, and the Nigerian Police Force were all on the scene to manage the incident. Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed that the situation has been contained, with no further updates at this time.
