Brigadier General Omopariola Takes Command of 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army

In a significant military leadership transition, Brigadier General Babatunde Omopariola officially assumed command of the 17 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Joint Task Force Northwest Operation HADARIN DAJI on August 22, 2024. 

The Handing and Taking Over ceremony took place at Natsinta Cantonment, Katsina, where Brigadier General Omopariola succeeded Brigadier General Oluremi Fadairo, who has been reassigned as Commander of 12 Brigade Lokoja.

During the ceremony, Brigadier General Fadairo commended the Brigade’s officers and soldiers for their unwavering support during his tenure, urging them to continue their dedication under the new leadership. 

Brigadier General Omopariola, in his maiden address, expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, and vowed to lead the Brigade toward greater achievements in maintaining peace and security in the region.

The event was marked by the signing of Handing and Taking Over notes, the symbolic transfer of the Command Flag, and a Quarter Guard parade.
