In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at raising environmentally conscious young citizens, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) organized a one-day summer event titled the “Eco Explorers Bootcamp” at the Dr. Oluyomi Abayomi Finnih Park in Ikeja, Lagos.

The bootcamp, tailored to children, focused on fostering an understanding of nature and sustainable environmental practices. Speaking at the event, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, highlighted its significance in shaping young minds. “The Eco Explorers Bootcamp is an essential platform for children to learn about their environment and the importance of protecting it,” Ajayi said.

He further emphasized the program’s objectives, noting, “We aim to impart knowledge on climate change, global warming, waste reduction, recycling, and energy conservation. It is crucial that these young minds grasp these concepts early on and carry them into adulthood, contributing positively to environmental sustainability.”

Echoing this sentiment, Ms. Tolulope Adebowale, the Executive Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Environmental Protection Matters, said, “By involving children in environmental activities at a tender age like this, we aim to cultivate a lifelong appreciation for nature and inculcate in the younger generation sustainable living practices for a better tomorrow.”
