NYG Delta 2024: Taraba Commissioner Of Sports, Joshua Hails Solomi For Winning Gold Medal

Nearly two days to the closing of the 8th edition of the National Youth Games Asaba 2024, Team Taraba has recorded another success in a Traditional sport “Kokowa.” Meaning a local Wrestling.

In a competition that took place at the indoor hall of the St Patrick’s Academy Asaba between Taraba State and Abia State, Solomi Philip won a Gold medal.

It is worth recalling that Team Taraba Cricket had earlier won a Bronze medal in the Male category against Team Edo last Friday. 

Commenting on the development, the Taraba State Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Amb Joseph Joshua on Monday applauded the Gold medalist, Solomi Philip for the victory.

He encourages the athletes to put more effort into securing more medals in the remaining games.

Amb. Joshua also reassured the people of the state of the state government’s commitment to uplifting and supporting young talents up to the international level.

Also elated, the Taraba State Director of the Sports Council, George Shita described the success as another milestone that would upgrade the position of the state in the medal table.

Shita who is also a Board member of the Badminton Federation, reassured the state government and the people of Taraba State of securing more medals before the end of the tournament.

Additionally, he emphasized the need for the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to maintain the limit of U-15.

The Gold medalist, Solomi Philip expressed gratitude to God who accorded her the strength to win the game, and appreciated her Coach and the state government under the leadership of Governor Agbu Kefas for the encouragement.
