The Collapsed building

The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA) and other first responders are currently handling a collapsed building on Ashogbon Street, Lagos Island, where they are conducting a controlled demolition.

The incident, which occurred in a densely populated area with narrow access, is being carefully managed to avoid secondary impacts on nearby properties.

Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), provided updates on the situation. “The demolition is being carried out manually due to the narrowness of the access road, which prevents the use of large machinery,” he explained.

He urged residents to stay calm, assuring that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of the surrounding area. “All efforts are being made to manage any secondary effects on neighboring properties. We will continue to provide updates as the operation progresses,” Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu added.
