Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reiterated the state’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment to drive economic growth and development.

Speaking during a meeting with the management board of Sahara Energy on Tuesday at his office in Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed optimism about the company’s operations in the state. Sahara Energy was recently licensed by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) to manage two oil fields (PPL 270 and PPL 271) in Ilaje Local Government Area.

“Ondo State is lucky at this time,” Governor Aiyedatiwa stated. “Although licenses are issued by the federal government, we assure you of our full support to ensure your activities flourish. We remain committed to maintaining Ondo as the safest state in the country and fostering an investor-friendly climate.”

The governor emphasized the importance of partnerships with private investors, acknowledging that the government alone cannot achieve comprehensive development. He also urged host communities to support Sahara Energy’s operations, stating, “The collaboration of our communities is vital for the success of these projects, which ultimately benefit both the state and its people.”

In response, the Chairman of the Board of Sahara Energy, Engr. Funsho Kupolokun, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and the governor’s commitment to fostering economic growth.

“We are here to share good news with the Ondo State government, and it must begin with His Excellency,” Kupolokun said. “Before commencing operations, we seek the governor’s permission and blessings to ensure a smooth working relationship with the state.”

Kupolokun, a former Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and an indigene of Ondo State, assured that Sahara Energy would adhere to state regulations and contribute to the socio-economic development of the host communities.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, Chief of Staff Prince Segun Omojuwa, Head of Service Mr. Bayo Philips, and Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Dr. Kayode Ajulo, SAN.
