A storey building under construction collapsed on Isaga Road, opposite Idi Araba Central Mosque in Lagos, on Saturday afternoon, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) received distress alerts at 3:40 pm and promptly activated the State’s Emergency Response Plans from its Cappa base. Response teams arrived at the scene by 3:56 pm and discovered that several individuals were trapped beneath the debris.
So far, one victim has been rescued alive. No fatalities have been reported at the time of filing this report.
The exact cause of the collapse is yet to be determined. However, officials have begun a full search and rescue operation. The site has been secured, and LASEMA has deployed its heavy-duty excavator to assist in reaching anyone who may still be trapped.
