The Lagos State Government has appointed Dr. (Mrs.) Ayodeji Ogunmuyiwa as the substantive Provost of the Lagos State College of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health Nursing, officially conveyed in a government letter signed by the Head of Service.

The letter of appointment was formally presented to Dr. Ogunmuyiwa on Wednesday at the Alausa Secretariat by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule, who described the appointment as timely and strategic.

“This appointment comes at a crucial time when the government is working assiduously to reposition its tertiary health institutions and healthcare delivery system for optimal service efficiency and effectiveness,” Sule said.

He emphasized the critical role of the College in addressing the healthcare needs of Lagos State’s growing population and praised Dr. Ogunmuyiwa’s qualifications and leadership experience.

“Her appointment is based purely on merit. With her wealth of administrative experience, academic credentials, and proven track record, we are confident she will reposition the College to become one of the leading nursing institutions in the West African sub-region,” he added.

Dr. Ogunmuyiwa, in her response, expressed deep appreciation to the State Government for the opportunity to serve.

“Our goal is to strengthen the College’s reputation nationally and internationally, ensuring we produce health professionals who meet the highest standards of excellence and discipline,” she added.

A highly accomplished educator, clinician, and researcher, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa holds a Ph.D. in Nursing Science from Babcock University, along with two Master’s degrees with distinction from the University of Botswana and the University of Lagos. She has received numerous awards for her contributions to nursing education and has mentored both local and international students.

She takes over from Mrs. Anuoluwapo Priesly, who served as Acting Provost.

Commissioner Sule concluded by assuring Dr. Ogunmuyiwa of the Ministry’s full support to ensure a successful and impactful tenure.
