AFRICAN GAMES: Umofia grabs Three gold medals in weightlifting for team Nigeria

It was all green for team Nigeria as Edidiong Joseph Umofia raised the bar at the ongoing African Games, starting the day on a good note winning 3 GOLD medals in men’s Weightlifting 67kg. 

Umofia came clutch, and was the overall best, lifting:

Snatch – 135kg

Clean & Jerk – 165kg 

Total – 300kg 

This will be his first Gold medal in a major competition and winning bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth games.

Team Nigeria female wrestlers earlier cleared all gold medals available in their categories,while Africa’s number one ranked player in Badminton Opeyori Anuoluwapo won the first Gold medal for Nigeria at the Africa games.

Nigeria now has Ten gold medals and are still in contention for more medals in football and three more events.
