The Suspected Terrorists

In a decisive operation based on intelligence reports, the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade arrested three individuals suspected of collaborating with terrorists in Taraba State. The arrests, made on October 15, 2024, took place in Landey Jessy village, located in the Lau local government area. This swift action is part of an ongoing military effort to curb terrorist activities in the region.

According to a statement released by Captain Oni Olubodunde, Acting Spokesperson of the Brigade, the operation was launched in response to reports of bandit activity in the Kona mountain range, which spans the Jalingo and Lau areas. “The troops swiftly arrested three suspects identified as Ahijo Sulaiman, Abdulrahman Isah, and Aisha Mohammed,” Olubodunde stated.

The interrogation of the suspects uncovered disturbing details. Aisha Mohammed, the wife of Ahijo Sulaiman, confessed that their residence had been used as a hideout for weapons following terrorist operations. Further implicating the group, Abdulrahman Isah was identified by a victim he allegedly attempted to kidnap in September 2024 in Iware, located within the Ardo-Kola local government area.

The military’s efforts to root out terrorism and ensure national security were reinforced by the successful apprehension of these suspects. “The Nigerian Army remains committed to protecting the nation’s territorial integrity and the fight against terrorists,” Olubodunde reaffirmed in his statement.

This operation serves as a strong reminder of the ongoing battle against terrorism in Nigeria, especially in regions where insurgent activities continue to threaten the peace and security of communities.
