Army retires 113 Generals

In a significant development In the Nigerian Army, a total of 113 Generals have retired from service this year. 

This announcement was made by the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who commended the retiring officers for their unwavering commitment and sacrifices towards maintaining the nation’s stability.

The Minister, speaking at a Regimental Dinner Night held on December 19, 2023, at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess in Asokoro, Abuja, assured the retiring Generals of the prompt payment of their pension entitlements. This event served as an occasion to honor the departing senior officers, acknowledging their meritorious and dedicated service without any blemish to the nation.

Among the honorees were one General, one Lieutenant General, 67 Major Generals, and 44 Brigadier Generals, symbolizing a diverse range of leadership roles within the Nigerian Army. The Minister took the opportunity to encourage the retirees to reflect on the next phase of their lives while assuring them of the government’s commitment to swiftly disbursing pension payments for retired personnel.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the nation, Minister Badaru saluted the retirees for their exemplary service and love for the country.
