Chelsea appoints fifth manager in two years

Chelsea have appointed Leicester manager Enzo Maresca as their new boss on a five-year contract with the option of an extra year.

The 44 year old is Chelsea’s fifth manager since the start of 2022/23 season and will replace Mauricio Pochettino, who left Stamford Bridge by mutual consent at the end of the season.

Maresca led the Foxes back to the Premier League and also won the  Championship title in his first season.

“To join Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, is a dream for any coach, It is why I am so excited by this opportunity, said an elated Maresca.

“I look forward to working with a very talented group of players and staff to develop a team that continues the club’s tradition of success and makes our fans proud.”

Maresca will begin his new role on the 1st of July,saddled with the responsibility to better the sixth place finish of the Blues last season which earned them a Europa Conference League spot.
