In a move to promote technology-driven learning and empower students with digital skills, the Gamaliel & Susan Onosode Foundation (GAMSU) has commissioned a fully equipped ICT Centre at Obele Community Junior High School, Surulere, Lagos.
The project, which forms part of the Foundation’s Ideal Classroom Project, was unveiled in commemoration of its founder’s legacy and ongoing mission to enhance educational infrastructure in Nigeria.
According to a statement by Mrs. Toyin Olanrewaju, Executive Director of GAMSU, the once-empty room has been transformed into a modern digital hub furnished with desktop computers, solar panels with an inverter, workstations, a projector, and other essential learning tools.
“At the heart of this intervention is our belief that every child, regardless of background, deserves access to quality education and the tools to thrive in a digital world,” Olanrewaju said.
She added that the installation of solar-powered electricity would ensure uninterrupted access to ICT resources, even during power outages, a vital component in sustaining digital learning.

Speaking on behalf of the Board Chair, Mr. Moyo Ajekigbe, the Board Secretary, Mr. Spencer Onosode, reaffirmed that the initiative reflects the late Mr. Gamaliel Onosode’s enduring vision of education as the most powerful tool for transformation.
“This initiative bridges the digital divide, fosters inclusive education, and ensures that no child is left behind in the quest for knowledge,” he stated.
Representing the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Olusegun Oshinaike, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary for Education District IV, praised GAMSU for its contribution to education reform.
“Technology is an integral part of sustainable education. We are grateful to GAMSU for this timely support, which will strengthen digital learning capacity not only at Obele Community Junior High School but also across neighbouring schools,” Oshinaike said.
Founded in 2003, Obele Community Junior High School currently caters to over 983 students, most from low-income families in the Lawanson and Ojuelegba communities.
GAMSU, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing quality education and youth empowerment, continues to provide infrastructure, learning resources, and digital tools to promote equitable access to education nationwide.
“At GAMSU, we remain steadfast in our mission to promote quality education and equip the next generation with the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly digital world,” Olanrewaju reaffirmed.
