The Gamaliel & Susan Onosode Foundation (GAMSU) has presented the prestigious Gamaliel Onosode Award for Academic Excellence to Master Shalom Adesina, a distinguished alumnus of Rehoboth College, Tanke, Ilorin, in recognition of his exceptional academic achievement.
According to a statement signed by Mrs. Toyin Olanrewaju, Executive Director of GAMSU, and made available to journalists on Monday in Lagos, Adesina, who is currently studying medicine at the University of Ilorin, earned straight A’s in all subjects in the 2023/2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC).
The award ceremony, held at Rehoboth College, was attended by students, staff, and proud parents who gathered to celebrate the young scholar’s remarkable feat.
Mrs. Olanrewaju said the award was instituted by the Foundation to reward academic excellence and inspire young minds across Nigeria.
“The Gamaliel Onosode Award for Academic Excellence not only highlights individual brilliance but also underscores the recipient’s educational environment,” she noted. “In this case, it serves as a testament to Rehoboth College’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and discipline.”
She added that the award comprises a certificate of recognition and a special gift for both the recipient and the school, symbolizing GAMSU’s enduring dedication to promoting learning and character development among Nigerian youths.

“The celebration of excellence serves as a beacon of inspiration for students nationwide, reinforcing the message that commitment and character truly yield enduring rewards,” Olanrewaju said.
For Adesina’s parents, the recognition was both emotional and fulfilling.
They described the honour as a powerful affirmation of their family values of hard work, resilience, and faith, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the public acknowledgment of their son’s dedication and success.
“This award means so much to us because it validates the sacrifices and values we have upheld as a family,” they said. “We are deeply grateful to GAMSU for recognizing and celebrating Shalom’s achievement.”
