Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State exercised his franchise early this morning at Polling Unit 5, Ugbo Ward 4, in Ilaje Local Government Area. Arriving at 8:40 a.m., the governor cast his vote by 8:50 a.m. and expressed optimism about the seamless conduct of the electoral process.

Speaking to journalists after voting, Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the organisation and transparency at the polling unit. “It’s encouraging to see the exercise going smoothly here. I am hopeful that this is reflective of the experience across the state,” he said.

The governor called on electoral officials and security personnel to ensure that all eligible voters have fair access to participate in the elections. “I want to call on all officials and security personnel to ensure that every supporter and citizen is allowed to cast their vote freely and without obstruction,” he urged.

Praising the state’s security measures, Aiyedatiwa highlighted Ondo’s reputation for peaceful elections. “We have consistently conducted peaceful elections over the years, and I am confident this one will be no different,” he noted.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), citing the punctuality of officials at his polling unit. However, he refrained from generalising, stating, “While the officials arrived on time here, I cannot confirm the situation in other locations.”
