Many Feared Dead As Mosque Collapses in Lagos

Rescue operations ongoing as an uncertain number of worshipers were feared dead on Sunday afternoon when a mosque collapsed in the Papa Ajao area of Lagos State.

The mosque collapsed during afternoon prayer, The Nation newspaper has reported.

Some injured and dead bodies have been moved from the rubbles with many more feared trapped.

The tragic incident has set many in a mourning mode as rescue operations continue to find more people believed to have been trapped

The exact number of casualties remains unknown, but many are feared dead according to eye witnesses.

The collapse occurred at a time when appreciable number of worshipers were observing their prayers leading to a chaotic and desperate rescue effort.

According to reports, several injured individuals and deceased bodies have already been pulled from the rubble.

However, many more are believed to be trapped beneath the debris while people continue searching for loved ones.
