Lagos, Nigeria – June 17, 2025 — When My Period Stories first aired, it wasn’t just another podcast, it was a megaphone for stories long silenced. Now, the powerful menstrual health series is back for a second season on Africa Magic Family, bringing fresh urgency to conversations about menstruation, stigma, and systemic neglect.

Airing Saturdays at 12:30 PM on DStv and GOtv, Season 2 leans into bolder storytelling and a louder mission: to challenge shame, rewrite narratives, and make menstrual health a public priority.

“We believe it’s time to shatter the silence,” said Anikeade Funke-Treasure, the podcast host and Executive Producer. “This is not just content. It’s a quiet revolution, one that reaches into homes, institutions, and across borders. We are using media to humanise menstruation and transform attitudes at scale.”

Season 2 builds on the 2024 debut season’s success and introduces a special four-part series on Fighting Fibroids and raw conversations with menstruators navigating PCOS, mental fatigue, and more, placing real people at the heart of national and policy-level dialogue.

But beyond personal stories, My Period Stories is also a platform for change, calling for menstrual health to be recognised as a human right, pressing for menstrual leave policies, pad banks in schools, and bolder steps to end period poverty.

Backed by a partnership with MultiChoice, Africa’s leading entertainment company, the show exemplifies how media and advocacy can merge to drive impact.
“We are deeply grateful to MultiChoice for believing in the vision of My Period Stories,” Funke-Treasure said. “You’ve shown what it means to use media powerfully, to not just entertain, but transform.”

Acclaimed filmmaker and I-Rep Festival co-founder, Femi Odugbemi, is also among the show’s backers, lending credibility and creative insight to its visual production.

Created in 2022 as an audio series, the show evolved into a video podcast by 2023 and premiered on Africa Magic Family in April 2024. It was officially introduced to Nigerians during the Africa Day 2025 celebration by the School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG).

Produced by Yellow Bloom Productions for the Illuminate Nigeria Development Network, My Period Stories is hosted by Funke-Treasure, a multi-genre media personality, author, and award-winning social entrepreneur known for her leadership in menstrual health advocacy.
