NDLEA Boss Marwa Visits Borno State, Donates Fertilizers Worth N120 Million to Flood Victims

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mohamed Buba Marwa, has extended his condolences to the people of Borno State following the recent devastating flood that claimed lives, displaced thousands, and damaged properties. Marwa, during his visit on Tuesday, 17th September 2024, met with Governor Babagana Zulum and the Shehu of Borno, His Highness Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanem.

Speaking on the severity of the disaster, Marwa expressed his concern, stating, “This may probably be the worst natural disaster that has ever hit a single city in the history of Nigeria.” Reflecting on his connection to Borno, where he once served as Military Governor, he added, “I can appreciate the enormity of the devastation of this flood on the lives of the people of Maiduguri, their livelihood, their homes, and even the environment.”

In an effort to support recovery, Marwa announced a donation of high-yield fertilizers worth N120 million from a fertilizer company he is associated with. The fertilizers, equivalent to ten trailer loads, are intended to aid displaced farmers in their return to the fields. “This is part of the medium-term intervention to help prevent famine in the months ahead,” Marwa explained.

Governor Zulum and the Shehu of Borno expressed their gratitude for Marwa’s visit and his support for the affected people.
