The General Officer Commanding Nigeria’s 8 Division, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, on Tuesday decorated four senior officers elevated from the rank of colonel to brigadier general, praising their professionalism and calling their promotion a “well-deserved milestone” for the Nigerian Army.
The ceremony, held at the Eagle Officers’ Mess, brought together officers, families and colleagues in what Ajose described as a moment of pride for the service. “Your elevation is a testament to your hard work and commitment,” he told the newly promoted generals. “Your achievements reflect not only your individual excellence but also the strength of the Nigerian Army. I would be honoured to serve alongside you anywhere in the future.”
Ajose also acknowledged the families of the officers, saying their support had been “the backbone” of the officers’ careers.

Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Aboki Adamu thanked the Chief of Army Staff for the confidence reposed in them and praised Ajose for what he called his “visionary leadership.” “We are humbled by this honour and the trust placed in us,” he said. “We pledge to redouble our efforts, exceed expectations and continue serving our nation with integrity and distinction.”
He also paid tribute to their spouses, noting that their encouragement had been crucial to reaching this point.

The officers decorated at the event included Brigadier General Mansur Tijani, Deputy Chief of Staff Administration; Brigadier General Husaini Toro, Deputy Chief of Staff Operations; Brigadier General Abdulmalik Aboki Adamu, Commander 58 Signals Brigade; and Brigadier General David Chidozie Ibeh, Commander 8 Division Medical Services and Hospital.
The ceremony featured goodwill messages from senior officers, the formal decoration of ranks and a moment of reflection on the officers’ career journeys. It ended with light refreshments and a group photograph.
