Accident scene at Second Rainbow, Apapa-Oshodi Expressway..

Two male adults lost their lives, and several others injured in a tragic road accident at Second Rainbow on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. The accident, which occurred on October 13th, 2023, involved a MAN truck transporting groundnut oil, a Honda Accord, and two commercial buses.

According to Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the incident was caused by mechanical failure of the truck. “The truck lost control at high speed, crashing into other vehicles, leading to a multiple vehicle collision,” he said.

The response team arrived at the scene by 5:52 PM and immediately began rescue and recovery operations. “We were able to quickly manage the situation and clear the wreckage. The injured were attended to by LASAMBUS, and the deceased were handed over to the police for transfer to the mortuary,” Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu added.

The accident caused significant traffic disruptions, but traffic control measures were swiftly implemented to ease the backlog. The affected vehicles have been towed to FESTAC Police Station for further investigation.

Emergency responders, including the LASEMA Response Team, LASAMBUS, LASTMA, and FRSC, were quick to activate the State Emergency Response Plans.
