Caleb University appoints former student activist, Mathematician, Prof Sunday Adewale, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics

Caleb University in Imota, Lagos, has appointed Professor Sunday Olumuyiwa Adewale as its new Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) overseeing Academics.

Prof. Adewale, renowned globally for his exceptional academic and administrative prowess, has a distinguished background in Mathematics, holding a B. Tech., M.Tech., and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics.

His appointment marks a historic milestone, as he becomes the first former Student Union Government (SUG) President to attain the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor in Nigeria.

Previously, he achieved a similar feat by becoming the first SUG President to attain the rank of Professor.

Prof. Adewale’s career has been marked by numerous achievements, including presenting research papers at prestigious institutions like Oxford University, UK, and the National Open University of Singapore. His expertise and experience are expected to significantly contribute to Caleb University’s academic advancement and collaborative initiatives across various disciplines.

In addition to his academic accomplishments, Prof. Adewale has demonstrated exemplary leadership qualities throughout his career.

He has held key positions in academic and administrative roles, including serving as Head of Department for two departments simultaneously at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology.

Born in Ibadan, Oyo State, Prof. Adewale’s journey to academic excellence began early in life, evident from his leadership roles during his formative years. His commitment to education and service has earned him several accolades and awards, including recognition for outstanding contributions to Mathematics and exemplary service to humanity.

Prof. Adewale’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Caleb University as it seeks to further its academic goals and uphold its commitment to excellence. He succeeds Prof. Adedeji Daramola and is poised to lead the institution’s academic administration, curriculum development, examinations, and other core functions, in line with its vision and mission.
