During a brief ceremony where Igonoh presented his award certificates, Marwa praised the officer for his exceptional service and for bringing pride to the NDLEA and Nigeria. “You have distinguished yourself in our efforts to combat substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking,” Marwa stated. He emphasized the global recognition of their work in dismantling drug cartels involving fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine. Marwa also acknowledged the support of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration in these efforts.

Marwa highlighted the importance of the officer’s achievements, noting that Igonoh’s recognition extends beyond personal accolades to being a source of national pride. “The sacrifice of a narcotic officer cannot be quantified in gold or silver,” he said, underscoring the critical role such officers play in making communities safer.

As a result of Igonoh’s dedication and professionalism, Marwa announced his promotion to the rank of Assistant Commander of Narcotics. Igonoh was already due for elevation to Chief Superintendent of Narcotics, and this accelerated promotion is intended to further encourage him and his colleagues.

The award certificate, signed by Harward Lampley, Director of the West Africa Regional Training Center, lauded Igonoh’s contributions. “Your commitment to utilizing the skills and techniques acquired from the ILEA training has significantly contributed to combatting drug trafficking in the region,” the certificate read. It also recognized his dedication, hard work, and excellence in countering Transnational Organized Crime, affirming the appreciation of the West Africa Regional Training Center and the ILEA Program for his contributions to regional and global security.
