The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has appointed Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) correspondent in Taraba State, Sani Sulaiman, as a national ex-officio member of its National Executive Committee (NEC) and a member of its Independent Investigative Committee (IIC).

The appointments were conveyed in two letters dated Oct. 9 and signed by SWAN Secretary-General Ikenna Okonkwo on behalf of National President Isaiah Benjamin.

SWAN said Sulaiman’s appointment to the NEC recognised his experience, commitment to sports journalism and capacity to contribute to the association’s development.

In his role as ex-officio member, he is expected to work with the national leadership and other stakeholders to advance the association’s objectives and uphold its constitution.

His appointment to the IIC reflects the association’s confidence in his professional judgment and integrity, the letters said.

The committee is responsible for examining complaints, gathering relevant information, conducting authorised interviews and preparing findings as part of SWAN’s efforts to promote transparency, accountability and institutional discipline.

The appointments took effect immediately, according to the association.

Sulaiman is the immediate past chairman of SWAN’s Taraba State chapter.
