Continuous Voter Registration Begins in Edo, Ondo States

1 Mins read

Edo and Ondo States have officially commenced the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) today, Monday, May 27, 2024. This exercise is being conducted across 397 centers in both states.

In light of recent flooding at the State Headquarters due to torrential rains, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has relocated the CVR to its Ikpoba Okha LGA office at 16 Custom Road, off Benin/Auchi Road, Benin City. This adjustment was announced yesterday in a statement signed by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.

To ensure easy access to the CVR centers, INEC has distributed detailed names and addresses of the registration locations to stakeholders and posted them on its website and social media platforms. Additionally, an online locator tool has been launched. Interested individuals can send an SMS to 09136913660 with their State, Local Government Area, and Ward to receive the detailed address and a Google map of the nearest center. Alternatively, they can visit cvr.inecnigeria.org/locator for the information.

A graphic guide for accessing the registration centers has also been uploaded online.

INEC urges all eligible citizens in Edo and Ondo States to take advantage of this opportunity to register. The CVR is also available for those wishing to transfer their registration within the states or from other states, and for requests to replace lost or damaged Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs).

Uncollected PVCs can be picked up at the registration centers upon presentation of the Temporary Voters’ Cards (TVCs) by registered voters in person. Collection by proxy is not permitted.

INEC emphasizes the importance of early registration to avoid last-minute rushes and encourages eligible citizens to participate in the CVR process promptly.
