NLC, TUC Suspend Industrial Action For One Week

1 Mins read

TUC President Festus Osifo confirmed the suspension on Tuesday following a joint extraordinary national executive council meeting of the unions.

“A joint NEC meeting of TUC/NLC has approved to relax the industrial action for one week with immediate effect,” Osifo told Channels Television. He added that a communique would be issued shortly.

The unions began the strike on Monday to protest the hike in electricity tariffs and the lack of agreement on a new minimum wage.

The industrial action significantly disrupted critical sectors of the economy, leading to the closure of schools, businesses, hospitals, and airports. The national grid was also shut down, resulting in widespread power outages.
