Petrol Attendant Trapped In An Underground Petrol Tank, Rescue By LASEMA, Others

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA said its Response Team swiftly responded to distress calls via the 767/112 Toll Free numbers about a trapped petrol attendant in an underground petrol tank of the above-mentioned filling station 

In a situation report signed by Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary, LASEMA,the team, on arrival at the venue of the  incident discovered that one of the workers in the Conoil filling station while attempting to check the level of fuel in their tank, fell into the underground petrol tank of the filling station.

He noted that with the  quick intervention of the emergency responders, the petrol attendant was rescued from the underground tank, however while rescuing the victim, the Lagos State Fire Service Search and Rescue Officer that rescued him subsequently slipped, and in turn also fell into the underground petrol tank.

“The Search and Rescue Officer who fell into the underground tank was also successfully rescued. No mortality was recorded in the incident”, he said. 

Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu in the report also noted that LASAMBUS Officials are currently attending to the victims to stabilize them before  moving them to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH.

Responders at the scene of the incident include, LASEMA Response Team, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASAMBUS, and the Nigeria Police Force.
