1 Mins read

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has inaugurated the Ultramodern Multipurpose Auto Care Service and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conversion Centre by Luftreiber Automobile in the Jahi District of the Federal Capital Territory. The state-of-the-art facility will offer various automotive services, including car maintenance, spray painting, body armoring, window glass fortification, car wraps, and CNG conversion.

During the commissioning, General Lagbaja highlighted the Nigerian Army’s involvement in the Presidential CNG Initiative, noting that 30 vehicles have already been converted to CNG, with 70 more currently undergoing conversion. He emphasized that this initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to reduce transportation costs through the use of locally produced natural gas.

“With CNG, the Nigerian Army is lowering its operating cost substantially, compared to running our vehicles on other fuels,” General Lagbaja stated. He further noted that the centre would help promote CNG usage in Abuja and provide job opportunities for unemployed youth.

Mr. Junaid Raza, Managing Director of Luftreiber Automobile, explained that the centre was created to address the daily challenges faced by vehicle owners in Nigeria, particularly regarding high fuel costs and scarcity. He added that the centre aims to offer an environmentally friendly energy solution through CNG conversion.
