Ondo State to Host Global Entrepreneurship Festival, Attracting Over 200 International Investors

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state has reiterated the state’s dedication to becoming a leading investment hub, emphasizing its peaceful environment, rich natural resources, and skilled workforce as key attractions. 

Speaking at the official presentation of the license for the Global Entrepreneurship Festival in Akure on Thursday, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed optimism about the event’s potential to catalyze significant growth and development in the state.

“We are ready to host the festival. We believe the influx of visitors and the international attention will enhance our profile and bring significant economic benefits to our people,” Governor Aiyedatiwa stated.

The Global Entrepreneurship Festival, slated for November in Akure, has already attracted the attention of 215 investors from around the world. The Governor underscored the state’s appeal to foreign investors, noting, “We have many areas that should be attractive to foreign investors, including our fertile land for agriculture, mineral resources, the cleanest beach in Nigeria at Araromi, and our deep sea port.”

Mr. Sunny Smart Francis, Special Adviser to the Governor on Entrepreneurship and Innovation, lauded the decision to host the festival in Ondo State, attributing it to the state’s progress in becoming an investment hub. “The choice of Ondo State for this festival is a testament to the significant strides we’ve made in transforming the state into an investment hub,” Francis remarked.

Mr. Dan Walkovitz, the Entrepreneurship Village Board Chairman and Global Investor, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, praising Ondo State for its hospitality and resources. “Ondo is a cornerstone for Nigeria’s entrepreneurial advancement,” Walkovitz noted.

Mr. Wanle Akinboboye, Nigerian Chairman of the Global Entrepreneurship Festival, highlighted the festival as the start of a prosperous journey for the state, while Mr. Anthony Jones Esq, GEF Partner and Investor, drew parallels between the upcoming event and the historic “Rumble in the Jungle” boxing match, expressing his intent to showcase Ondo State on a global stage.

The event concluded with the unveiling of the festival’s theme song and the official presentation of the festival’s license to the Governor, marking the beginning of what is expected to be a landmark event for Ondo State and Nigeria.
