The Ondo State government has entered into a strategic partnership with the World Bank to bolster primary healthcare delivery across 203 wards in the state. Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa made this announcement on Wednesday during the presentation of the Instrument of Appointment and Staff of Office to the new Ajana Afa-Okeagbe Akoko, Oba Mofolorunso Adegboyega Arasanyin, at the Afa-Okeagbe Palace in Akoko North West Local Government Area.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the significance of the project, stating, “The World Bank-sponsored initiative, complemented by counterpart funding from the state government, will bring healthcare closer to our rural communities and alleviate the pressure on our secondary and tertiary health facilities.” He further assured that the funds required for the project have already been allocated, and the contractors are being assembled for immediate implementation.

Highlighting the broader efforts of his administration, the Governor noted, “We are not only focused on healthcare but are also actively recruiting health workers, teachers, and enhancing the overall welfare of our citizens.”
During the ceremony, Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the peaceful selection of the new Ajana Afa, acknowledging the historical importance of the Ajana stool. “I commend the kingmakers for their sincere and invaluable roles in the emergence of the new monarch,” he said, adding, “It is expected that our traditional rulers will support and complement the government’s initiatives for the development of their communities.”
The newly installed Ajana Afa, Oba Mofolorunso Samuel Adegboyega Arasanyin, expressed his gratitude to the Governor and the State Executive Council for their support, describing his appointment as a significant milestone. “I am committed to working collaboratively with the community to harness our cultural, social, and economic potentials,” the new monarch stated.
The ceremony also featured remarks from the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Amidu Takuro, who credited Governor Aiyedatiwa’s prompt intervention for the successful coronation process. Otunba Solomon Oladunni, the Asiwaju of Oke-Agbe, extended his thanks to the Governor for his unwavering support and assured that the community would mobilize in his favor in the upcoming election.
