The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 68.3% of the Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) from the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Edo State have been collected. This marks the highest percentage of PVCs collected in five days since the CVR was introduced ahead of off-cycle governorship elections in 2015.

INEC disclosed on its official microblogging site X that “Out of the 184,438 new PVCs available, 125,928 cards were collected by voters.” The Commission attributed this success to improved processes, including packaging the PVCs by Polling Units, Wards, and Local Government Areas (LGAs) and producing a collection register that was uploaded to their website.
With the collection period at Ward levels concluded, INEC has announced that collection will now resume at the Commission’s 18 LGA offices across Edo State from Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, until Sunday, September 8th, 2024. INEC urged remaining voters to pick up their PVCs in person, reiterating its policy that no cards will be collected by proxy.
