In preparation for the upcoming Edo State Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will be conducting a mock accreditation exercise. The exercise will serve as a test run for the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the subsequent upload of results to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal.
The mock accreditation is set to take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, across 12 designated Polling Units in six Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Edo State, covering the three Senatorial Districts.
In a statement signed by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner & Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee on the commission’s official X handle, Olumekun said, “The exercise will be crucial in ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally before the actual election,” he added “We urge all registered voters in the designated polling units to participate in the exercise with their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).”

In Edo Central, the exercise will be held at Eguare Primary School and Uwenujie Primary School in Esan Central LGA, as well as Eguare Primary School 1 and Eguare Okhuesan in Esan South East LGA. In Edo North, the designated centres include Usokwi Iyogbe Azama Primary School in Etsako West LGA and Holy Trinity Grammar School in Owan West LGA. For Edo South, Western Boys’ High School 1 and Ologbosere Primary School 1 in Ikpoba Okha LGA, along with Idia College I and Payne Primary School 1 in Oredo LGA, have been selected.
“Please note that only registered voters in these specific polling units are invited to participate. No voter from another polling unit can be accredited by the BVAS during this mock exercise,” Olumekun added.
