INEC Chairman Assures Ondo State of Credible Polls Ahead of #OndoDecides2024

In preparation for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election, INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu visited key training centers in Akure South to assess the readiness of election officials. His visit comes as momentum builds toward the November 16 poll, with training underway to ensure officials are equipped to manage polling stations efficiently.

During his tour, Prof. Yakubu visited Aquinas College and St. James Mega School Irowo, where he observed hands-on training sessions for Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs). These officials will be responsible for the voting process and maintaining order at the polling units.

Addressing the trainees, Prof. Yakubu emphasized the significance of their role in delivering a credible election, saying, “You are the frontline of this electoral process. The integrity of the election rests largely in your hands, and we are counting on your dedication to uphold transparency and fairness.”

He assured Ondo voters of INEC’s commitment to a free and fair election, stating, “INEC is unwavering in its mission to conduct an election that reflects the true will of the people. We are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the 2024 Ondo governorship election meets the highest standards of credibility.”

The Chairman’s visit is part of INEC’s proactive measures to enhance electoral transparency, underscoring the commission’s dedication to equipping its personnel with the necessary skills to uphold order and integrity at polling units as the election date approaches.
