The Lagos State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, has reiterated the agency’s dedication to combating vandalism and ensuring the protection of critical national assets.

Speaking at the Fourth Bi-Monthly Public Relations Clinic on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Command’s Headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, Keshinro highlighted the command’s renewed strategies for tackling social unrest and vandalism as the year draws to a close.
“Our approach to safeguarding critical national infrastructure has been rejuvenated,” Keshinro stated. “We have strengthened our tactics and are working closely with all stakeholders to prevent the chaos and destruction caused by social unrest, as seen during events like the End SARS protests.”

The event, themed “Curbing Social Unrest and Vandalization of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure: The Role of Law Enforcers, the Government, and the Community,” emphasized collaboration between law enforcement agencies, government bodies, and local communities in maintaining security.

Guest lecturer, Dr. Adeyinka Bakare, highlighted the devastating impact of previous unrests, stating, “We must remember the chaos and losses from the past. These experiences serve as a warning that lawlessness benefits no one.”

Panelist Barrister Felix Ogunmade added, “The role of communities cannot be understated. When citizens work together with law enforcement, it significantly reduces criminal activities.”

The clinic also featured prominent contributors, including Dr. Titilayo Fowokan, Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin, Ambassador Samuel Eniola, and representatives from organizations like MTN, and Ikeja Electric. Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin, the event’s convener, described the initiative as a platform to “bridge the gap between law enforcement and citizens.”

Participants, including officers and private sector stakeholders, lauded the initiative, calling for sustained engagement and actionable steps to curb insecurity.
The event marked the conclusion of the PR Clinic series for 2024.
