MNJTF Force Commander Visits Sector 3, Reaffirms Commitment to Defeating Boko Haram

The new Force Commander (FC) of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General Godwin Michael Mutkut, has conducted a familiarization visit to Sector 3 in Monguno as part of an operational assessment in the ongoing fight against Boko Haram.

During the visit on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Major General Mutkut evaluated the combat readiness of troops and received a briefing from the Sector 3 Commander, Major General Mohammed Babayo, on ongoing operations, challenges, and strategic plans.

Commending the troops for their dedication, the Force Commander urged them to remain steadfast in their mission, noting that the recent mass surrender of Boko Haram fighters signals the possible collapse of the insurgency. He also emphasized the dangers of illicit drug use among soldiers and directed the sector to identify medical equipment needs for potential support from strategic partners.

The visit boosted the morale of the troops and reinforced the MNJTF’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring peace in the Lake Chad region. Major General Mutkut assured the forces of continued support, promising the necessary resources to sustain their operations.
