Lagos State Government has officially launched the Ilera Eko Door-to-Door Sensitization Campaign and Roadshow in Ojo Local Government Area (LGA) to promote its social health insurance scheme and encourage residents to enroll.
Speaking at the flag-off event, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, emphasized that Ilera Eko is designed to ease the healthcare burden for Lagosians by providing affordable and comprehensive health coverage. She announced that the sensitization campaign will run for 60 days across the Badagry Division, covering households and communities in Ojo, Oriade LCDA, and Agbara.

Dr. Zamba highlighted that those who register for the scheme by Valentine’s Day stand a chance to win a special gift. She also noted that LASHMA has set up offices in key local government areas to facilitate easy access to information and registration.
The initiative received strong endorsements from stakeholders, including the Lagos Health District V Permanent Secretary, Dr. Dapo Asiyanbi (represented by Dr. Wale Akeredolu), Ojo LGA Chairman Hon. Rasulu Idowu (represented by Vice Chairman Mrs. Edna Uche-Ubochi), and the Olu of Iwa and Apapa Kingdom, HRM Oba Maroof Oyekunle Atanda. They praised the scheme for its role in improving healthcare access, especially for vulnerable and remote communities.
With Ilera Eko covering 80% of hospital needs—including consultations, maternal care, and chronic disease management—residents are urged to take advantage of the scheme. Enrollment costs are N15,000 per individual, N55,000 for a family of four, and N80,000 for a family of six, with an installment payment option available through the ILERA N’TIWA Cooperative.
The campaign underscores the government’s commitment to achieving universal health coverage and ensuring that all Lagosians, regardless of their financial status, have access to quality healthcare.
