In an effort to gauge and amplify public opinion on Nigeria’s judiciary, the Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre) is set to release a new edition of its Leadership Approval Rating (LAR) report, titled “Voices for Justice: A Civic Lens on Nigeria’s Judicial System – Documenting Public Experiences, Opinions & Reform Demands.”

The forthcoming publication, which marks the fifth volume in the LAR series, delves into the role of the judiciary as a pillar of democracy and a protector of citizens’ rights. It evaluates public perceptions surrounding judicial performance, focusing on issues such as corruption, accountability, and access to justice.

According to a statement signed by HEDA’s Chairman, Olanrewaju Suraju, the report offers a “deep and timely analysis of the judiciary’s strengths and gaps,” adding that while the judiciary serves as the final arbiter of justice, rising concerns over its integrity have ignited critical conversations among Nigerians.

“This publication is a call to action for collective efforts to address issues within the judiciary and restore public confidence,” Suraju said. “It represents our commitment to amplifying the voices of Nigerians and driving meaningful reforms.”

The report, based on independent surveys and rigorous analysis, captures citizens’ sentiments and outlines actionable recommendations aimed at strengthening the judiciary and rebuilding trust in the system.

HEDA’s LAR initiative has become a recognized tool for citizens to assess government institutions and policies across sectors including health, education, and anti-corruption. It promotes transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.

The public presentation of the “Voices for Justice” report is expected to draw key stakeholders, media professionals, and reform advocates, as part of broader efforts to enhance judicial reforms and governance in Nigeria.
