Cole Palmer: From Brick to Pillar at the Bridge

1 Mins read

Cole Palmer is shining brighter than a million stars at Stamford Bridge after back-to-back impressive performances for the Blues.

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola must be scratching their heads right now, wondering why they let Palmer leave. Obviously, he’s a player who cannot be kept on the bench.

Since Cole Palmer joined Chelsea in September 2023 and scored his first goal against Burnley in an away game, his name has never left the lips of Chelsea faithful.

He has been in impeccable form for Chelsea in his 25 appearances so far. One such performance was the hat-trick he scored against Manchester United, which saw the Blues come from 3-2 down to win the game 4-3 after going 2-0 up earlier in the game.

Palmer also attained a milestone as he became the 200th player to score a Premier League hat-trick. Landmark hat-trick scorers include former players like Eric Cantona, who scored the first in 1992, Michael Owen who scored the 50th in 1998, and John Carew who reached a century in 2008, while Cole Palmer hit the 200th mark in 2024.

Ten of his sixteen goals this season have seen Chelsea go from drawing to leading a game, a feat last achieved by Eden Hazard.

It is safe to say Palmer is the pillar holding the bridge together this season, and also a significant reason why Pochettino still remains the manager at the club.
