Comptroller Dera Nnadi, mni, the Customs Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service, Tincan Command, has paid a courtesy visit to the Customs Consultative Committee (CCC) at its Apapa office on January 22, 2024.
The Chairman of CCC, Aare Fwdr. Hakeem Olarenwaju Rff, and Fwdr Eugene Nweke Rff warmly welcomed the distinguished guest.
During the visit, the CCC Chairman, Aare Fwdr. Hakeem Olarenwaju Rff, addressed Comptroller Dera Nnadi on the adverse effects of the volatile foreign exchange regime on trade. He seized the opportunity to enlighten the Comptroller on the operations of CCC and urged for expanded strategic consultations to alleviate operational challenges in the ports.
The Chairman specifically pointed out red tape issues in the supply chain and proposed their elimination. He also made recommendations to align with the policy objectives of Tincan Command and the overall management of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
In response, Comptroller Dera Nnadi emphasized the importance of responsible partnerships and collaborations in achieving operational goals. He expressed his belief in strategic mobilization and alliances, clarifying that his courtesy visit aimed to strengthen these bonds with CCC.
Highlighting the necessity of stakeholder support for meeting the annual revenue target, Comptroller Dera Nnadi praised CCC for its assistance in 2023. He assured the committee of the commitment of Tincan Command’s management to implement key resolutions from the recent stakeholders meeting during the Comptroller General of Customs conference in 2023.
