The Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA) has officially announced that Ghana will host the 23rd International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA) from December 3-8, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre. This event will bring together global leaders, researchers, healthcare professionals, and advocates to advance efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS, STIs, malaria, hepatitis, TB, and other emerging health issues.
“This is a momentous occasion for Ghana, and it highlights the country’s dedication to combating HIV/AIDS in the West African region,” said a statement from the SAA. Ghana’s successful bid was credited to its leadership under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and its ongoing commitment to improving health systems.
ICASA, which first began in 1989, has become a key platform for sharing research and strategies on Africa’s response to HIV/AIDS and other health challenges. The 2025 edition will mark the first time the conference is held in Ghana and coincides with the 35th anniversary of the SAA.
“ICASA 2025 will play a crucial role in advancing Africa’s health systems, as we work toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and the global aim of ending new HIV infections by 2030,” the SAA added.
Preparations for the conference are already in motion, with the first international steering committee meeting scheduled for November 28-29, 2024, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
