Governor Aiyedatiwa Hails ABUAD’s Role in National Development at 12th Convocation Ceremony

The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has praised Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) for its remarkable contributions to the human capital development of Nigeria. Speaking at the university’s 12th Convocation Ceremony and 15th Founder’s Day event, the Governor highlighted the institution’s role in shaping the educational landscape of the country over the past 15 years.

Governor Aiyedatiwa commended ABUAD for its quality education, noting that its graduates are making significant impacts across various sectors of the economy. “No doubt, this institution has contributed in no small measure to human capital development by the quality education it offers. I want to congratulate the institution on this milestone and thank God for the founder, Aare Afe Babalola, who is alive and in good health to witness this day,” he remarked.

The event, which took place in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, saw distinguished figures, including the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; renowned lawyer, Mr. Damian D. Dodo, SAN; and the serving overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, receiving honorary awards from ABUAD.

Governor Aiyedatiwa extended his congratulations to the honorees, emphasizing that their contributions to the law profession and society as a whole warranted such recognition. “Their dedication to the advancement of humanity and the legal profession has earned them this honor, and I am delighted to celebrate with them today,” the Governor said.

While reflecting on the visionary leadership of ABUAD’s founder, Aare Afe Babalola, Governor Aiyedatiwa lauded his commitment to education in Nigeria. “Aare Afe Babalola has made a huge investment in the development of this great citadel of learning, driven by a vision to offer world-class and reformative education. This institution is a beacon of excellence and continues to make a positive impact,” he stated.

In his address to the graduating students, Governor Aiyedatiwa congratulated them on their academic achievements and urged them to contribute positively to society. “You have been equipped with the tools needed to make a difference. As you step out into the world, be agents of change and contribute to the growth of our nation,” he advised.

The Governor also took the opportunity to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to improving the education sector in Ondo State. He highlighted various initiatives already underway, including increased funding for tertiary institutions, rehabilitation of schools, and the recruitment of teachers for primary and secondary schools.

The convocation ceremony was a landmark event for ABUAD, celebrating 15 years of impactful existence and solidifying its status as a transformative force in Nigeria’s education sector.
