Takum, Taraba State – The Hausa community in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State made history on Tuesday, April 2, 2025, as they launched a 48-page book chronicling their origins and contributions to the region. The book, “A Brief History of the Hausa Community in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State,” was unveiled during a grand ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the Sarkin Hausawa of Takum, Alhaji Hudu Isma’ila Madugu.

The event, held at Anguwan Rogo Primary School, drew dignitaries from across the country, including traditional rulers, government officials, academics, and community leaders. It featured award presentations to notable individuals and posthumous recognitions to families of past leaders who contributed to the peace and development of Takum.

The book traces the Hausa community’s roots in Takum back to the 17th century during the reign of Chief KUMBOSHI, the third ruler of the Chamba ethnic group. It highlights the community’s active role in the town’s founding and their efforts through colonial and post-independence eras.

Governor Agbu Kefas, represented at the event, lauded the resilience of the Hausa community and praised the leadership of Alhaji Hudu Madugu.

“This event reflects the resilience of the Hausa community in this diverse region and highlights the evolving role of the Sarkin Hausawa—from facilitating trade and preserving culture to navigating modern governance and security issues,” he said.

“It is crucial to continue emphasizing our peaceful coexistence, respect for authority, and love for one another, as these are the foundations of our progress.”
