Governor Aiyedatiwa achieved an extraordinary feat by winning in all 18 local government areas of the state, securing 366,781 votes, the highest ever in Ondo State’s history, and defeating his closest rival, Mr. Agboola Ajayi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 117,845 votes.

A Triumph for Democracy and Progress

Speaking at the Government House in Akure shortly after his victory was announced, a jubilant Governor Aiyedatiwa described the result as a testament to the unity and determination of the people of Ondo State.

“This is not just my victory; it is a victory for all the people of Ondo State,” Aiyedatiwa declared. “I am deeply honoured by the overwhelming support and trust you have placed in me. This mandate reinforces my resolve to work tirelessly for the betterment of every citizen.”

The Governor pledged to maintain an inclusive and participatory government, promising to prioritize economic growth, public welfare, and unity in the state.

Commendations for INEC and Security Agencies

“I want to appreciate the Independent National Electoral Commission for their transparency and the security agencies for maintaining peace throughout the exercise. This is a testament to democracy at its finest,” he said.

Dedication to God and Unity

The Governor dedicated his victory to God and the memory of his predecessor, the late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, describing him as a source of inspiration. He also extended an olive branch to opposition parties, urging collaboration for the progress of Ondo State.

“To my fellow contestants, the future of Ondo State is our collective responsibility. Let us put aside political differences and join hands to build a brighter tomorrow,” he appealed.

The APC National Chairman, Dr. Umar Ganduje, expressed confidence in the party’s dominance in the South-West region. “This victory is a clear indication of the people’s trust in the APC. Our next focus is reclaiming Osun and Oyo States,” Ganduje stated.
